Accommodation
in
Scotland

After receiving a number of requests for information on accommodation in Scotland from members who are planning a trip in the future I have carried out a quick piece of research and I have found that the cheapest and most cost affective way of staying while visiting this beautiful country is in my opinion not to stay in bed and breakfasts but rather if you can you are better served to consider booking a cottage for a week.

If you consider that the average cost of a double room seems to be around £45 GBP per room per night or in many cases per person per night you will see that for a

couple to stay in bed and breakfast accommodation for one week would cost them around £315 GBP per week and this is for one double room possibly with en suit and breakfast usually consisting of fried food, couple this with a responsibility to 'keep the noise down' because of people on the other side of the wall and just four walls to look at on a rainy day and you will see that although the B&B may well be clean warm and comfortable it does have its drawbacks over a full week.

A cottage usually consists of at least two bedrooms (some en suit), a lounge, Kitchen bathroom, heating, TV, etc, in fact all mod cons you would expect and many also provide

full bed linen, further many also allow a dog, no noise restriction and you can come and go as you please at any time of the day and night without disturbing anyone, in most cases you also have the added benefit of seclusion and stunning views. It therefore does not take a rocket scientist to see that the advantage of renting a cottage for a week is vastly superior to B&B for the same period of time, that is not to say that B&B's are bad, in most cases they are very clean and good value but in my opinion there is no comparison with renting your own private cottage instead.

I have been so struck with the quality of one particular cottage hire firm that I have decided to devote this page to it for the benefit of members, for example take a look at one of their typical cottages:

The firm 'Unique Scotland' is one of Scotland's premier companies in this field and enjoys a reputation to be envied.
